KERRIE MEARES


Kerrie is a former professional track cyclist and global ambassador for women's sport and social campaigns. She competed for Australia for more than a decade, winning gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and several medals at World, Oceanic and National events.Ā 

Kerrie Meares is a Director, business leader, and consultant with extensive experience across healthcare, education, sport, and lifestyle sectors. She has held senior roles including Head Coach, Team Leader, Manager, Advisor, and Coordinator, building expertise in partnership development, sponsorship management, and organisational strategy with major organisations such as BHP, National Bank of Australia, and Multiplex. Kerrie also holds postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration and has been recognised for her service to sport, including receiving the Centenary Medal of Australia in 2001.

Kerrie’s elite sporting career began in cycling, where she achieved senior world medals and multiple records from the age of 17. She won Sprint and 500m Time Trial gold medals at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games and followed with silver and bronze at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. A contender for the 2004 Olympic team, she retired due to injuries sustained in prior competitions. After retiring from elite sport, Kerrie co-developed resources for junior cyclists, volunteered in coaching roles at championship events, and applied her high-performance expertise to leadership and development in sport and business.

Her contributions have been recognised by the State Government of Queensland, which named Kerrie Meares Crescent in Gracemere in her honour. Kerrie currently serves as Director at the Track Cycling Academy, overseeing a global coaching team, and works at Queensland University of Technology within Student Services.
